This is designed as a General session presentation. It will focus on humor, laughter and play as a way of coping and responding the difficulties of medical treatment. We will reference past experience as medical professionals and the present techniques of using humor as a resilience strategy. We will provide specific examples of using humor to engage treatment professionals, support family and community and to maximize the positive effects of treatment. Though there are many accounts of using humor in treatment, this presentation will focus on the importance of intentionality, focus and expert application in the effective use of humor strategies(interpersonal, visual and in writing) The program is designed to be informative, entertaining and inspiring.
